We Have the Power to Impact Our Future, and We’re Doing Something About It

The CBCO team have been advocating for Cross Border Community Members since 12th August 2020 – just before the Vic/SA hard border closure (we all remember THAT week!!).

Paula Gust started the Facebook Page on the night that the hard border closure was announced. Within 12 hours, there were 1,700 followers, and that has since grown to over 7,052.

I volunteer my time, as there is nowhere else that people can go to, for support, information and connection. I work tirelessly, sometimes upwards of 30 hours per week on the CBCO initiative.

I regularly meet with politicians, speak in Parliament, and work closely with my contacts in SAPOL and SA Health. I may be most known for getting Premier Steven Marshall in a headlock 🙂 .

Kylie Holland is no longer actively engaged anymore, but in her 8 months on the team, she spent a huge amount of time responding to the myriad of messages on the Facebook page, and with her extensive knowledge and understanding of the directions, our followers were well informed.

Jason and James are extremely busy, so Paula is managing the page solo now, but has the support and regular phone catchups with the team.

We try to keep track of everything on the Facebook Page, however this website will enable us to compile information that we can use in our campaign to the Premiers & health authorities who are decision makers.

We need to show them how this border closure is affecting our Vic/SA communities!

Drop a couple in the tin

The CBCO founder, Paula Gust, and the dedicated team work hard for our fellow CBCM's, and we all do this voluntarily.

However, if you'd like to contribute anything to our CBCO group, to cover our administration costs, website costs, feel "free to drop something in the tin".   Please make sure you are not forking anything out that you need for yourself in this hard financial time.  We will continue to advocate for the CBCM's no matter what.

Our Top Priorities

Families

Families are being kept apart.  Kids are missing Mum/Dad.  Grandparents miss their family.

Businesses

Businesses on both sides of the border are suffering.

Mental Health

So many people are struggling with Mental Health issues due to border closures.

Covid Tests

Covid testing is now only required for Essential Workers – not CBCM

Outside the 70km

People who do not live within the 70km corridor, who are not able to see family members.

Agricultural Issues

Farmers are being disadvantaged greatly; roads are closed, stock need to be attended to.
